The specific task of

Speeding up the transfer of results from technically oriented basic research projects for future use by abstraction regardless of discipline.

The aim of the Matrix project is to investigate technology transfer from fundamental research in the materials science sector and materials engineering sector into industry-oriented practice.

The aim of the Matrix project was to deliver concrete results to DFG and relevant professional associations:

  • Better understanding of interdependencies within the technology transfer from basic research in sectors of materials science and materials engineering into industry-oriented applications.
  • Deriving strategies for a long-term methodological support of technology transfer in the field of materials science for 2025 by a structural analysis of the current German innovation system material science.
  • Analyzing the status quo of opportunity recognition in the existing research network of material sciences.
  • Developing new technology transfer methods and transforming them after a pilot phase into an operation model.
  • Developing target group-oriented incentive measures (of the DFG) in various stages of a technology transfer process.
